Day 1 26 Sept / 1 Oct
At 8,30 h. pick-up from your hotel in Sofia and departure to Veliko Turnovo, the old capital of Bulgaria.
About 11 h. arrival at Arbanassi village-architectural museum. There you can see the well-preserved mediaeval churches and houses from the Revival period. One of the most interesting sights is the St. Nicolas Monastery, founded during the Second Bulgarian Kingdom and survived the vicissitudes of the history. It has beautiful old icons and wood-carved iconostasis dating from 1746. Lunch in a typical authentic restaurant with local specialties. Then short drive to Tarnovo and accommodation at 4-star Hotel Premier or similar. In the afternoon tour of the sights – the Old Town – the authentic shops along the Samovodska bazaar and after that sightseeing of Tsarevets
complex – the Mediaeval capital of Bulgaria, situated on the Tsarevets hill - a natural inaccessible fortress where the royal palace once was, encircled by the deep-cutting Yantra River. Perched one above the other on the rocks, the houses reach right down to the riverbank. Free time before dinner and then seeing from the square the impressive spectacle “Light & Sound” at Tsarevets Hill.

Day 2 27 Sept / 2 Oct
After breakfast – departure to the town of Gabrovo and Etura Open Air Ethnographic Museum, where master craftsmen fashion beautiful gold, silver, copper, leather and wooden articles right before your eyes from early morning until late at night. The waft of freshly baked bread drifts across from an old bakery and a tiny coffee shop serves streaming sweet Turkish coffee, amidst lovely old houses & small shops. Free time for shopping. Lunch at a cozy tavern in the complex. In the afternoon – return drive to Sofia, arrival at your hotel about 18,30 h.
