Day 1 - 23 Sept / 1 Oct - Troyan
After breakfast departure from your hotel in Sofia - start with visit of the Boyana Church – one of the nine monuments in Bulgaria included in UNESCO’s world heritage list. The small church is situated at 15 km from the city center in Boyana district. It’s significance as monument of culture is due mainly to the exceptional frescoes dated from 1259 for its undeniable contribution to the European art culture. The name of the master painter is unknown - He is simply called the Boyana Master. The images are realistic and vital. The portraits of Kaloyan and his wife Desislava are the oldest portraits painted from life in the Bulgarian art. They are dressed in their finest clothes, the traits of Kaloyan’s face are refined and noble, and Desislava is considered to be the most beautiful feminine image from the epoch. Departure to Troyan and lunch. Visit of Monastery, nestled among virgin nature at 10 km from the town of Troyan. The monastery was founded in the 16th century and you’ll be enchanted by the exquisite decoration of wood carving, the impressive walnut altar – masterpieces of the craftsmen from the Tryavna School as well as by the beautiful murals in the chapel St. Nikolas. Continue to the town of Turnovo. Accommodation at 4-stars Hotel Premier or similar. Dinner and seeing from the square the impressive spectacle “Light & Sound” at Tsarevets Hill.

Day 2 - 24 Sept / 2 Oct - Turnovo
After breakfast tour of Veliko Turnovo – the Old town, the Mediaeval capital of Bulgaria, situated on the Tsarevets hill - a natural inaccessible fortress where the royal palace once was, encircled by the deep-cutting Yantra River. Perched one above the other on the rocks, the houses reach right down to the riverbank. Lunch and walking tour at the nearby Arbanassy village-architectural museum. In the afternoon departure to Plovdiv via Dryanovo Monastery. Stop at Shipka Memorial Goden Church. Accommodation and dinner at 4-star hotel in Plovdiv - Bulgaria Hotel**** or similar.

Day 3 - 25 Sept / 3 Oct - Plovdiv
In the morning city tour of Plovdiv, Bulgaria's second largest city, it has a 24-centuries long history and is one of the ancient crossroads between East and West, proofs of its glory are the Roman amphitheatre, the Forum, the Old Plovdiv and its National Revival architecture (from 18th - 19thc.). Lunch at a restaurant in the Old town. In the afternoon follows excursion to Bachkovo Monastery and Assenova Fortress at the foot of Rodope Mountain. Dinner at Chevermeto Tavern with specialties from the cuisine of the Rodope region with live music.

Day 4 - 26 Sept / 4 Oct - Melnik
After breakfast departure to Ìelnik via Bansko – the newest and modern mountain resort and ski center in Bulgarian in the folds of Pirin Mountain. Lunch in Bansko and time for a waking tour. Continue to Melnik - the smallest and one of the most romantic towns in Bulgaria, with unique architecture and nature, famous for its excellent red wine. Visit the Rozhen Monastery – a masterpiece by itself with the beautiful woodcarving and frescoes in the church. Leisure time for a walk around the sandstone pyramids surrounding the monastery and Melnik – a unique natural phenomenon, created by erosion, wind and water... Later take a walk in the winding streets of the town to visit the Kordopulova House – museum with huge wine cellars. Enjoy a delicious dinner in traditional tavern with wine testing. Overnight at Hotel “Bolyarka” or similar.

Day 5 - 27 Sept / 5 Oct - Rila
Start with visit to Rupite – a sacred place with curative spas and temple devoted to the famous Bulgarian clairvoyant Vanga. Continue to Sandanski, a warm southern town and Bulgaria’s biggest spa center. The day proceeds with visit to Rila Monasterty - the most famous monument of Bulgarian architecture and history, a stronghold of the Orthodox religion and Slavic culture, included in UNESCO’s world heritage list and located in the magnificent surroundings of Rila Mountain, 120 km from Sofia. Lunch in a mountain restaurant with menu of monastery recipes. Arrival in Sofia in the late afternoon. Accommodation at your Hotel.
