Veliko Turnovo - the medieval capital of Bulgaria is situated on the Tzarevetz hill - a natural inaccessible fortress where the royal palace once was, encircled by the deep-cutting Yantra River. Perched one above the other on the rocks, the houses reach right down to the river bank. The trip includes a walk in the nearby village museum Arbanàssi /~250 km from Sofia/.

At 8,30 h. pick-up from your hotel and departure to Veliko Tarnovo, the old capital of Bulgaria. About 11 h. arrival in the town and tour of the sights – the Old Town – the authentic shops along the Samovodska bazaar and after that sightseeing of Tzarevets complex – the Mediaeval capital of Bulgaria, situated on the Tzarevetz hill, a natural inaccessible fortress where the royal palace once was, encircled by the deep-cutting Yantra River. Perched one above the other on the rocks, the houses reach right down to the riverbank. Lunch in a cozy authentic restaurant with local specialties at the nearby Arbanassy village – architectural museum. There you can see the well-preserved mediaeval churches and houses from the Revival period. One of the most interesting sights is the St. Nicolas Monastery, founded during the Second Bulgarian Kingdom and survived the vicissitudes of the history with a beautiful old icons and wood-carved iconostasis dating from 1746. In the afternoon – return drive to Sofia, arrival in your hotel about 18,30 – 19,00 h.
